Cartoon Capers
Next week my company will be attending a tradeshow where we’ll be showcasing some of the new tech we’re developing. All this really means is that last week I spent most of my time working on a demo and flyers for the show.
However, in what little free time I did have, I spent it on turning this into this. And next I’ll try my hand at this one. I don’t really have any artistic abilities per se, but coloring was always a nice pastime for me as a kid. I guess I still enjoy it.
I’m still trying to find some hobbies to keep myself busy, but more importantly, to get me out of the house and meet new people. I’ve been looking at taking some cooking classes. There were a couple of classes that I was interested in this upcoming week but since I'll be both working in Austin TX and vacationing at the Cape, I’ll have to wait a bit before I can kick shit up a notch...BAM!!

holy shit, yo! you are teh photoshop coloring master! What kind of weird effect did you use on that cape?
and good luck playing with the levels on that Bort picture ... I sure did use the wrong kind of paper for scanning.

Um..actually I did miss reading the comments on my blog, but knowing that most of my usual commenters were on vacation was what got me though this most difficult time.
dan - the cape was super easy to do. Color in the area - then make the color your background color. Then pick a slightly lighter color for the foreground (just go up or left on the color palette). Select the area with the magic wand. Use a radial gradient - start where the light source would hit first on the area and drag away.
The go in and lighten/darken any areas with the dodge/burn tool.
The bort picture is going to be difficult. It's going to need to be re-inked and I've tried twice but I can't get any smooth arc lines using my trackball. I need one of those fancy digital pen things.
Maybe I will just try doing a background for the colored pic or maybe just try another pic all together
